Johnny Erickson I’m an aircraft piolet in the Great War. One of my best friends Alberto Devaini is also in the war as a piolet with me, our fathers and grandfathers were piolets in former wars together so it has basically been a tradition. my_plane.jpg me_and_my_best_friend.jpg
April : Today, I start a journal of my journey. I was called to duty as an aircraft pilot in the Great War. The reason for this is, because I fear no one will ever hear my story. I fear that I will only be a casualty of war, and never have my voice heard. So, this is why I must write about my journey.
May: This last month has been excruciating for me, I miss my wife more than any one could imagine. I lye awake at night knowing and fearing that I may never see her beautiful face again. The fighting has been steady but still I am in fear every time I go into battle.
July: The struggles seem more and more unbearable with the more fighting we endure. I pray every night to keep my faith alive, I pray so that I will be able to return to my wife. The 18th was my wife and I’s anniversary, god do I miss her.
August: My birthday is today the 1st; it reminds me again how much I miss home and all the celebrations. I feel my end is near for some unforeseen reason I cannot quite point out, but if this is true at least someone will be able to take my journal and tell my small yet significant story.
September: Bombs are ringing, while soldiers are singing. They march in step, while death has crept. Stealing lives with sharpened knives. I can’t take this I want to scream! Is this nothing but a dream? NO, they fall one by one until the job is done! God take me from this hell. I keep hearing them yell. It’s quiet, every one is silent.
December 25: Its Christmas day and I miss my wife so. I wish to see her beautiful face once more, I pray each and every night to make that true.
September :I haven’t written in quite a while but the war has been at a high and my dear friend Alberto has passed and I made a promise to him that I would take care of his son Antonio, and teach him everything I know.
October: Antonio has been doing quite well with learning to fly. And things in the war have started to slow down a bit, I am hoping this war is coming to an end….
November 11: It is 11:00 am, the armistice has been signed by all nations and the war is finally over!
-Life when I returned home: Once I returned home I was with relief to see my wife again. Friends and family are with joy to see me and I am happy to see them all as well. Some people in my nation that were against the war do treat me somewhat differently, and aren’t happy that we didn’t get the land that was promised to us. But I feel my life will never be exactly the same again and I will never feel like a normal man…
1-Italy didn’t get involved in the war until a few years after it started. We got involved because we had signed an agreement with Germany and Austria-Hungary, the Triple Alliance, and when Austria-hungary declared war and Germany got involved we had to fight along side with them. Even though Italy ended up trading sides before the end of the war. 2-After the Archduke Franz Ferdinand was shot and killed by the Black Hand from Serbia we were afraid that Austria-Hungary was going to declare war on Serbia. And sure enough they did, and it broke out into a major war.
3-My battle plan for Italy; -My battle plan for Italy is to go with Germany and take out France's army then move up to Russia and take out their army.…. We will need aircraft's to drop bombs of chlorine and mustard gas, tanks.jpg, rifles, and machine guns to charge and take out the other nation’s trenches.gif, and war fronts. 4-This poster is one of the reasons I joined the war.
This made me join because I’m positive that my nation will be the one crushing Britain. 5-Russia’s exit was a shock to me at first. After they left and the US joined it made it harder for my battle plans to be fufilled, but Italy is still going to fight our hardest to win this war.
6-After the Treaty of Versailles (the peace treaty), Italy was a little upset at the fact that our prime minister, Vittorio Orlando didn’t speak up enough and that we didn’t get the land that was promised to us from Austria-Hungary and Germany.
